AMD on Ageia…
It seems like AMD is considering buying Ageia, which, together with Havok, is the biggest player in the physics for gaming field. It has just released a new PPU (Physics processing unit), but since Havok has been acquired by Intel, AMD seems interested in Ageia. The only problem is that 100 millions dollars are far higher than the true actual value of the company, but the intellectual properties that Ageia owns could skyrocket the price, since it is now the only physics company left on the market, and someone else could be interested. Physics is not much developed at the time, at least inĀ the hardware part, but the software, developed both by Havok and Ageia, is widely used, and FREE!
Let’s see what happens in the next few days!
Stay tuned!
