A scholarship is a financial aid given to students, to help them complete or continue their education. The scholarship is awarded according to various criteria, usually merit, but also other may be used: in the US many famous athletes (especially in basket or football) get a scholarship to attend a college (where they will play for the college team); some scholarships are based on ethnicity and awarded to students of a particular race or religion.
