Download DirectX 10 for Windows XP from Alky Project and DirectX 9.0 L, DirectX 10 for Windows XP
Microsoft decided not to release a version of DirectX 10 for Windows XP (it is only available fro Vista right now). Someone created a project to port the DirectX 10 to XP some times ago, and finally Alky Project has released the first version of their suite, Alky for applications, which enables you to use Vista specific applications such as the Windows Sidebar, Windows Vista Screensavers, and Windows Mail on XP! A release of Alky for Games is also available, supporting HALO 2, and another verison is expected soon.
I really this that something will move soon, because many game developer are pressing on Microsoft for DirectX 10 on pre-Vista Operating systems, and if this Aly project will come to life, itcould be a serious threat to Microsoft “secret plan” for Vista adoption.
PS: Few months ago some voices said that Microsoft would release DirectX 9.0 L, which would be DirectX 10 for Winodws XP, but the news soon revealed to be a fake, since DirectX 9.0 L is part of DirectX 10 for Windows Vista.
